Word for Today from Pastor Tim-
A Delete Button for Life…
Isn’t it amazing how much really stupid stuff we can pack into our lifetime? Most of it we don’t intend to do but a good amount of it is because of the choices that we make. Things that seem like they are good but are forbidden by God for our own good are often the things that we choose to do. Even when we are not sure about the decision that should be made to avoid something that we know goes against God's Word, Satan, God's enemy, comes along and tempts us even further with, “just a little won’t hurt…”
We don’t need to go very far in this lifetime to realize that our choices to accept sin over God's Word have piled up an enormous debt that we will never be able to pay on our own and that gets us primed for Satan to once appear in our thoughts with, “What’s the use of even trying. Enjoy life.” If it were not for the sacrificial blood of Jesus Christ paying the penalty for our sin, we would be hopelessly lost. When we place our trust in the shed blood of Jesus all our sin is paid for and forgiven.
Hebrews 8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
Because of what Jesus, the Son of God and God the Son, did for you and me, God can push the “delete” button of His memory when it comes to our sin. He has chosen not to remember them against us anymore. So, when the thoughts come into your mind about all the dumb, stupid, sinful stuff that you did, ask yourself where that is coming from. Is it from God or is it from God's enemy trying to keep you from the amazing unconditional love that God has for you because of Jesus. Why would you want to waste even one second of the time God has given you to serve and worship Him on thinking those thoughts? If God says that He doesn’t remember them, why should we?
